Welcome to the NBA Macro Minute! This is a short article focused on macro environments and trending players. The goal here is to identify easy spots to focus or remove from slates and make DFS a bit easier.
If you have any questions or comments reach out to me in the discord or over on X for some more discussion
Macro NBA Defensive Stats
- Washington is giving up 1.21 fantasy points per minute over the last 10 games, highest on the main slate
- PHO is giving up .95, the lowest on the main slate
- WAS is giving up the most points per min at .53, MIA is giving up the most FGA at .42
We will talk about matchups in a moment but stacking up MIA and attacking WAS is going to continue to be a strong strategy. The other main thing to note is OKC is on the late slate, not the main, so we can’t just avoid him like usual.
Macro NBA Combo Stats
- Best game environment by far is CHI/MIA
- Worst is HOU/DEN with a combined FPPM of .94
- TOR/WAS is likely to be the most popular, but it’s a weird matchup for fantasy
CHI/MIA just straight up to the moon. Both teams averaging 240+ per game, are the top of the ladder in pace, attempts, and threes on the slate. Likewise they are giving up 1.08 and 1.07 FPPM to opponents. Just the nuts game environment.
Trending Players
- Craig Porter Jr. is the best adjusted ceiling value for his price
- Based on the game environments above you have to like Jalen Smith here
- Peyton Watson is super interesting coming off a total nuke
As usual I need to dig a lot more here, I’ll talk through some findings in the discord, but my first inclination is Jalen Smith is bae.
If you want to research these dudes yourself, go over to the gamelogs tool and look into their rotations and performances!
Thanks for reading, go grab some trophies.
